G-INSPiRE Joins the Stand for Her Land Movement

Strengthening Collective Action for Women’s Land Rights, Gender Equality and Inclusive Development in Tanzania

The participation of G-INSPiRE in the Stand for Her Land forum held in Dodoma marked an important moment in the organization’s continued commitment to advancing gender equality, women’s rights, inclusive social protection and equitable access to productive resources.

Represented by its Director, Tumpe Mnyawami Lukongo, G-INSPiRE joined a diverse community of stakeholders and participants brought together to exchange experiences, strengthen advocacy and advance collective action towards securing women’s land rights.

The forum provided a valuable space for women, civil society actors, development stakeholders, community representatives and other partners to share lived experiences and perspectives on the opportunities and challenges surrounding women’s access to, ownership of and control over land.

Land Rights as a Foundation for Women’s EmpowermentG-INSPiRE recognizes that women’s land rights are intrinsically connected to economic empowerment, household resilience, food security, livelihoods and social protection.

For millions of women, particularly those living in vulnerable circumstances, secure access to land can provide a foundation for productive livelihoods and greater economic independence. Conversely, insecure or unequal access to land can reinforce economic vulnerability and limit women’s ability to participate fully in development.

The Stand for Her Land agenda therefore resonates strongly with G-INSPiRE’s institutional mission of promoting Gender-Inclusive Social Protection, Innovation, Policy and Research Excellence.

From Dialogue to Meaningful ActionG-INSPiRE’s engagement in the Dodoma forum goes beyond participation. It reflects the organization’s commitment to contributing to conversations that can lead to practical, inclusive and evidence-informed solutions.

The forum offered an opportunity to listen to the experiences of women and communities, learn from other actors and strengthen relationships with stakeholders working towards a more equitable development landscape.
